Replacement & Custom Parts

The bogie center pivot mechanism requires components that can transmit large longitudinal and transverse forces while permitting necessary rotational movement. Our central pivot bushes and traction rubber blocks are specially engineered to handle extreme shearing dynamic loads and shock forces encountered during acceleration, braking, and curve negotiation.

Utilizing specialized elastomeric compounds chemically bonded to steel sleeves, our bogie center pivot bushes provide optimal radial stiffness and progressive deflection. These low-maintenance components minimize dynamic play, prevent metal-to-metal wear, and significantly extend the operating lifespan of kingpins and pivot housings across heavy rail and urban transit networks.

Beyond the bushing itself, we supply traction rubber springs, traction center pads and elastic center pivot bearings for locomotives, freight wagons, passenger coaches and metro vehicles. Whether you need a direct replacement to match an existing part or a non-standard design built to your drawing or sample, GRS can source or make the part and support long-term replacement programs. Send us your drawing, sample dimensions or operating conditions, and our team will respond with availability, lead time and pricing.

Structural Insight & Dynamic Performance

How a Bonded Rubber Pivot Carries the Load

An elastic center pivot bearing combines rigid metal members with bonded elastomer layers. The metal parts locate the assembly, and the rubber carries load through shear and compression.

  • High Shear Resistance

Bonded elastomer layers carry large horizontal and longitudinal shear forces while the pivot still allows small rotation during curving.

  • Progressive Stiffness

Stiffness rises as deflection increases, which limits dynamic play under load and keeps the traction center aligned.

  • Longitudinal Shock Absorption

Traction and braking impulses are damped by the rubber, reducing shock transferred into the kingpin, pivot housing and carbody.
